About Me

Hi, I’m Zay DeHerrera—a developer, systems thinker, and relentless problem solver. From a young age, I was obsessed with the inner workings of anything electronic. I dismantled TV remotes, radios, old VCRs—if it had buttons, I had to know what was inside. My mom didn’t love it (especially when things didn’t go back together), but those early experiments weren’t just mischief—they were the foundation of how I learned to break things down to build something better.

I studied Computer Science at Western Colorado University, but my education went far beyond the classroom. I came into college unsure if I belonged—I’d barely graduated high school. But I developed the ability to learn independently and adapt quickly. Through late nights, side projects, and client work, I discovered a passion for building intelligent, data-driven systems that make the complex simple and the slow efficient.

Today, I’m the Co-Founder of Bauer DeHerrera Technologies (BDTechnologies), based in Denver Colorado. We specialize in delivering AI-powered solutions for government municipalities—helping public agencies modernize processes, analyze data, and make smarter decisions through automation and machine learning. I also run Gunnison Snack Distribution, a logistics venture I launched in 2024, and co-own 4-Life Concrete, a family business operating since 2004 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Across every role and project, my focus stays the same: take things apart, understand how they work, and rebuild them into something better.
